I need a new shock and seen A hagon rear shock on a site that lets you pay in 3 installments
Wondered what people with these shocks think

Had a bike with one fitted Tbh The damping adjustment made little or no difference on mine possibly due to it being built for someone else with a different weight spring etc bumps used to kick me out seat and couldn't dial it out .

Hagon are the cheaper end of the shock market.
Probably better than the tired old one in your bike but you get what you pay for.
Hagon -> Nitron -> Maxton -> Ohlins

Consider getting the original one rebuilt or there's the BMW option.

In what way would it be better. Better damping, spring rate ..? Not being a knob just have no idea how you might mean and one day soon I will need to decide this very question.

The BMW shock is potentially a much better shock but only if you have the same ratio suspension linkage as the BMW to make it work properly.
If you fit it to a standard NC30 you will also need to upgrade it's spring as the standard one is far too soft (as a consequence of the linkage ratio) and under damped. The general consensus seems to be it will be an improvement over a knackered 25 year old Showa on the road, on the track they dont work so well.

Hence why Rick O sells the linkage for the NC30 which will make the BMW shock work as the factory intended....

Just had a did a quick search and apparently you can modify the BMW link to similar dimensions of the HRC one:-

The most cost effective way is to have an original late modle shock rebuilt. There are a lot of aftermarket suspensions available but it's easy to get caught out into the "i need the best shock" team.

Unless your a competitive racer with good knowledge of setting up the suspension then most of the time they are not going to help you be any faster apart from some psychological boost, espeically on the road.

I've rode a Vfr with a BMW shock and i liked it, It was really stiff tho.
I'm just trying to gauge as many views as I can before I decide what to do.
I'm heading towards getting the tried and tested original shock done
