Found blocked up rubber pipe in engine? Help? NC30 1989

Hi all,

(Bike - VFR 400 NC30 1989)

Today I was doing some maintenance on the bike. I removed the fuel tank to check the air filler and found a small/thin

rubber tube/pipe (Close to spark plug 3) that had been plugged up (with what looks like a small nail) with "FOR VAC TAP" written

on it. The thin rubber tube/pipe was just left to dangle and the other side of the tube runs back into the engine.

Am guessing it has to do with my fuel tap? Im guessing this was a vacuum line to the fuel tap?

Why would someone do this to the bike? Guessing this is a MOD?

Have looked at the fuel tap and looks like someone has used a small bit of rubber piping to re-rout fuel back into the tap.

Will try post pictures, (Whats the best way to post pictures on this site?)

Thanks,

Andrew.

its the fuel tap vaccum line, just leave it blocked otherwise you will have an airleak

the tap has been modded so there is no vaccum diaphram anymore (if it hadnt you would have fuel supply)

Hi all,

Thanks for the advice.

Guessing the bikes had the Fuel tap vacuum bypass then?

Thanks,

Andrew.
