I recently bought an nc30 (import) with a slight knocking noise at about 3000 rpm and was told by the previous owner not to ride it until i had it looked at. easier said than done the six year old boy came out in me and i took her for a spin after about 40 mins the slight knock turned into a horrible clattering noise like there are nuts and bolts rattling around inside, there was a total loss in power and it was cutting out at the end of every street :( . i havent got much experience with big bikes mainly 2 strokes so i havent got the foggiest what has happened but i know its pretty bad whatever it is. does this engine sound like a total loss or is there a chance it could be revived pls help somebody please

Possibly the big ends are gone or a dropped valve, time for a new motor I think.

You should get a good motor for about £200. Get one from a breakers and ask for a warranty so if it's a dud you'll get your money back.

why not open it up and inspect the damage, tho if a new engine is 200quid then itd be cheaper to replace!

It's almost certainly a big end bearing has failed.

If you are in living in the Southeast of England, I have a good replacement with approximately 15,000 miles on I can let you have for £175 delivered to your door.

Thanks
