Parts interchangeably

Post by lutha23 »

Hi guya ive started the project on my cb400sf and a whole lot of research. Ive discussed the bike has alot of interchangeable parts with the cbr400 and whole lot of aftermarket parts on the market... Ive sent the bike away for some engine work but the rest of the work i will do by myself im located a site which has a list of parts that you can take from other hondas between the 92 ~ 98 model just the mechanical bits anr some engine internals....

Looking forward to getting her back nd getting her to tip top shape.

Here are some pics of the current condition

Ive sourced many aftermarket parts like mirrors handlebars grips chain tensioner reg/rec cdi some lights and speedo from a bandit performance chain nd sprocket aswell as brakes was thinking of getting new discs and exhauste system

Lemme know what else to add to the shopping list and some advice will be appreciated

Thanks

Without looking at more details, your bike is definitely from 92-93. 94 has a different speedometer (with fuel gauge). 95-98 has a different crank case cover (right side).

For the most, parts should be cross-compatible and interchangeable between all the different generations of the NC31. If in doubt, consult the parts menu book (there's alot of them floating about on google). Its in Japanese, but it shouldn't stop you comparing the exploded diagram with the part numbers.

There are alot of Chinese-made aftermarket parts for the CB400 NC31. Should not be too difficult or expensive to restore the bike to looking as good as new. All the best

I was wandering if we can use a custom gauges for this bike? As I heard people said if we removed the original gauge you cant rev past 6k rpm and your bike will stutter is it true?

Yes you can. Resistor mod to the Ignition module will fix the 6k stutter. And yes I do know I need to tidy things up.

I like your setup, looks tidy nd not too in the way.

Only prob is no passenger space but that should not b an issue, since we had a little accident my woman wont get on the bike.

Cheers mate, appriciate the reply, any complains about ur setup,or suggestions... would u do anything different if u wer to purchase luggage again?
