Checking engine oil level - VFR400

Hi guys,

I've had a bit of a look around the forum (and yes, I've tried the search function too!) & also had a read up
in the workshop manual in the downloads section but nowhere can I find the correct method for checking
the engine oil level on a VFR400 (NC30)

I guess it needs to be done with both wheels on the ground (not on a rear stand) & if it's like most other
Jap bikes you just rest the dipstick on the threads (not screwed in) but do you check it with the oil cold or
do you warm it up & check it when the oil is hot?

I figure it's probably done cold but would appreciate any assistance with this.

Cheers, Andy

you need the honda common service manual, its written in there.

bike on level ground, start and run for a minute or two to circulate the oil. Stop the engine and wait a minute and rest the dipstick / dont screw in.

make sure oil is between min / max line but dont overfill
