Hi everyone,

I have a CB 400 super four Project Big 1 on a k reg 1997, its my first 'big bike' after passing my test and I'm hoping i can get some help on getting the best setup for it, I have a pretty limited knowledge base when it comes to which tyres are best and after market cans and whatnot, I know i want to up the tyre sizes up to 120 front and 150 rear but thats all

Any wisdom would be amazing

I'm currently running Pirelli Diablos (H rated) on one of my 93 Superfour - which are pretty good when up to temperature (although I haven't really tested them in the wet). Think the Pirelli Rossos I'm running on my CBR400 are slightly better in that regard, which a friend also raves about on his CB1.

Personally though, I think I've become a bit of a Michelin man, can't really fault a pair of Pilot Road 3s (or 4s) - warm up in no time, and offer all the grip I need in pretty much any condition. They're a slightly shallower tyre than the Pirellis too, which gives a bit more of a confidence inspiring turn-in.

Try some Pilot Sport. They do make them in stock sizes.

Or go all out and fit CBR600 F4i forks and rims and some PR4's. That 180 looks sweet in the stock swingarm. Stock brake rotor fits too. Front end soaks up every bump and grips like you won't believe.

You have so many choices but depends on your usability and weather factor, I'm using metzeler tires by the way so far so good for hot and rain climate like Malaysia ;)
