88 carbs and 89 carbs interchangable?
Hi there guys, i'm in the process of getting my 1988 1WG 3EN up and running. Last weekend I pulled the carbs out as the previous owner hasn't had the bike running for 18 months so thought they would need a clean and fresh fuel etc.
Upon inspection of the diaphragms I've discovered that all four are torn beyond repair!! I've since found a company called NRP that sells replacements for £30 each but to replace all four is still expensive so had a look on ebay and found these being sold which the seller has kindly checked that the diaphragms are in good condition however he believes they are from an 89 bike. Comparing photos of his ones to mine there doesn't seem to be much difference between them but being a complete noob at doing up bikes I wondered if they would still be usable on mine?

Yes they should fit. £85 is a bit high for a set of carbs that the seller hasn't used, I'd have thought £50.

Yeah I thought it seems pretty high price too. Unfortunately there's no make an offer option on there. Hopefully I can sell my old set cheap as spares or repair and recoup some of the costEvilchicken0 wrote:Yes they should fit. £85 is a bit high for a set of carbs that the seller hasn't used, I'd have thought £50.

Check them over VERY carefully for cracks when they arrive.
They have been dropped hard enough to distort the inlet stub of no. 4 ,judging by the pic.

Yeah I will definitely, I also noticed that in the pic although I couldn't work out whether it was just a dirty mark or something. I think I should receive them Monday as they were sent Express 48hr.willandrip wrote:Check them over VERY carefully for cracks when they arrive.
