What, specifically, are you working on? The whole wiring harness? Or can it be narrowed down to a particular sub-system within the overall wiring of the bike?

I think the early B4 (Japanese model) was wired identically to the GSX-R400 of the same years (the '88-'89 was a distinct yearmodel for the GSX-R400 and had its own Service Manual).

The whole bike really, its been chopped and hacked by many people. I've just saved it from a shed where it has been under a water leak for 8 years, that hasnt made matters any better.

I've tried looking for the early manuals but can only find the 90's models.

As mentioned, I don't have the Service Manual for the early B4, but I do have a PDF of the Japanese (JDM) '88-'89 GSX-R400 Service Manual.

Here's the Electrical System Wiring Diagram for the 1989 GSX-R400. I believe the only difference between the 1989 GSX-R400 and 1989 GSF-400 wiring harnesses is in the lighting (the wiring for the GSX-R's dual headlights and possibly a couple of other differences in the cockpit indicator lights/lighting).

If you search around a bit you can probably find and download this PDF of the '88-'89 GSX-R400 Service Manual. If I found it on the interwebs then you surely can too. I can't remember where I found it, maybe through a link from a forum (maybe even from this forum).
