Hi all
How do I tell if a fzr 400 sp is a true sports production model?
I may be looking at o e next week.
It does say sports production under fzr. But what should I be looking out for??
Thanks
Steve

That's not an SP.

Giveaways are:

No paddock stand bobbin mounts on the swingarm
No damping adjuster on the bottom fork leg
No preload or damping adjuster on the top of the fork
It has pillion pegs, seat and multi-piece seat unit.

That's all i can tell from the pic apart from a non-sp paint job too.

SP has adjustable suspension front and back, single seat, different paint. Then the less easy to spot bits are the bobbin mounts on the swingarm, captive wheel spacers, close ratio gearbox, lighter valve train, extra plate in the clutch.
Have a look here http://www.madsi.co.uk/models.aspx it shows the models of FZR400 and gives you an idea of what to look for.

The 3tj RR version isn't so bad

This is an SP:

Don't see many in that condition either. I used to own one and they are lovely bikes. 2TK model.

I kinda get where he's coming from but using OW01 in the title is far from the truth!
