Hi Guys!

I need to refresh the yokes on my NC35.
Do you have nay experience in spraying those. I want to do it myself and I don't want them powder coated.
I could use your advice on how to spray them properly to make them look as close to originals as possible. Any favoutite brands of paint? Should I look for black of some particular code?

I painted mine when i first got the bike, took it back to bare metal (nitromores) grey primer and then 5 thin coates of hammerwright satin black aerosol, look great but within about 3 months the keys had worn through the paint on the edges

recon im gona go for a brushed alloy look next time, stuff painting it

Powdercoating is a much better alternative for parts like this.

I did this too, and the paint chipped with the other key flapping about in the wind so have a lump of blu-tac on the side of the yoke which i stick the key into to stop it flying about. Still gotta get it stripped and do it again tho
Would lacquer be any good to stop it chipping?

Even powercoat or brushed aluminium would not stand up to keys - is the solution not rather to stop the keys from touching the surface? I have a quick release on the bikes ignition key so that I can store all the rest of my keys in my jacket were they are not able to do any harm.

I've only have the ignition key on the key fob of any of my bikes - there's 20 odd keys attached to another I keep in my bag/pocket.

I've resprayed mine using Halford's own paint; gave it about 7 coats in all; can't remember if it was glossy or what though?!
I do keep a second key together with the ignition one, as well as a keyfob made of rope, but I've cut a bit of battery hose to go on the second key to stop it scratching the paint and it's been fine! :)

I painted mine 7 months ago, and still fine. Used a washer primer and car 1K paint, plus hardener. Did both frame and swingarm too.

When you took it down to the bare metal was it a silver? i'm wanting to do this to mine and then polish it for a chrome look.

It's alloy, so yes you can polish it.
