3EN1 Caliper Options

All,
I'm sure this will have been covered before! Replacement caliper options for a 3EN1 ? Particularly rear caliper I need a new one? FZR600? FZS600?
Also what is good for the front?

For the Front the best is a set of Blue Spots from a R6 or R1
Stoppies will be no probs....lol

The rears are harder, because the discs are small the 400 is slightly different to a 600 caliper. If it works then leave it, if it sticking then it's worth stripping and replacing the seals. You don't use a rear that much so it's not like you need extra power there

Thanks for the info,
I need to bleed the rear brake and both nipples are snapped! I'll have to see if I can get another but not many available at the moment!

See if you can find somebody who does spark erosion that should get the sheared nipples out

Could you get away with using a bango bolt with an inbuilt bleed nipple? you may have to bleed up the caliper unbolted from the mounts to make sure you get all the air out.

Why not use a stud extractor
You already have a hole for it to go into

I'm happy to try and get them out, it's just from past experience they are normally a) a b*stard and b) don't always seal again afterwards if you have to drill them!

I no longer use traditional thread extractors......far too brittle.
What does work well is slightly enlarging the bleed hole and tapping in a torx bit that bites into the hole with a light hammer .
Beware of excess heat application....it can expand the steel nipple and when it unscrews the alloy caliper threads come out with it.
The 600 unit requires the outer of the piston "bulge shaving/dressing slightly at the bottom to clear the 400 wheel or it rubs.
400 calipers are not rare....but sometimes take a while to source.

The front callipers aren't that bad once they're cleaned, chuck in some EBC HH pads and they should be good. it's worth rebuilding the master cylinder, easy to do and often overlooked.
