Hi all,

Having problems getting my SF to start when cold, sometimes I can get it to start correctly and other times I can't, it seems to be very specific about how much choke + throttle it wants, it's like a puzzle.

Is there any general way I can get it started?

Last bike was fuel injected so not used to this business yet.

Thanks
Michael

Starting from cold , Firstly turn on the fuel tap, Ignition on spin the engine over (this creates the vacumm to allow fuel through the tap into the carbs wait 20 seconds to allow enough fuel to reach all 4 bowls) spin the engine again at the same time to see if it will fire up if not slowly operate the choke you should hear the engine fire, (mine will not start with excessive choke operation).

Thanks for the reply (Will give it a try tomorrow) and your information about the mixture screw setting I asked about a week ago.

Meant to ask, do you apply any throttle ?

MIne I normally just flick the choke on and then hit the button, let it rev for around 3-5 seconds then hold it at a fast idle (3k-ish) for another 5 seconds then let it do its thing.

Apologies for the late reply (Been on holiday)
Yes but only a little , its really a case of just trial and error of how much you give it, don't rev hard especially when the engine is cold
