Looking for a good source here (USA) To purchase engine bits. I.e. crank bearings, piston bearings. At the point to where a motor tear down is in order. Just got it started and found knocking on top and bottom end.
Any help finding parts would be welcome.

Crap. So THAT'S why you need a new motor.
Some parts can be found through Honda, but you might be sourcing stuff from GB or Japan.

I've already stripped down a spare 750 motor for a punch, may as well take the 400 in at same time for the same thing
Sleeper mode on !!!

Engines are pretty cheap on Yahoo Auctions. I wonder what it costs to ship one of them over here...
With that said, you should be able to get the parts from either GB or JP as vfrman said.

wouldnt strip a good running engine of a v4 just for a refresh as they last ages and ages and parts are are getting scarce now.. if you can get all the stuff you need save it until you really need it.
also the cost is huge.
not sure if its still going but there used to be a v4 high milage club, you couldnt join until your bike had done at least 100,000km / 62,000 miles. There were members with over 100,000 miles on their bikes.
True testement to the quality of engineering in these old bikes.
If budget is no issue or you have a problem with it then a tear-down might be worth it, especially if its a bespoke motor, but for the majority of people a good running 2nd hand motor is still the more chepaer / viable option, even today when they are getting much more scarce.

I have spare parts and always acquiring more...
Long story short on mileage.
Me = 206m on my '90 vfr 750
My bud = 175+ on his '90 vfr 750 (the only reason his isnt equal to mine? He moved out of state w/o his bike for 3 years.

jsut re-read your post... sorry it was late and id had more than enough beers.
You said its knocking top and bottom end? that sounds really bad.
People often rule it out but have you tried to source an engine that isnt ruined to rebuild first?
Even having one shipped from Japan isnt often that expensive and a good lowmileage unit will probably be a better investment than a knackered one.

I just read your post... I've used rising sun cycles in the past with very good results for new parts... If it's still available, they can get it! Here's the link:

For a lot of non NC30 specific parts, I used partzilla.com. If you have a parts fiche then just cross ref the part number with their search system.
