per the title, doing my clutch and it has 10 friction / 9 steel. As far as I have read, it should be 9 and 8?

With 10 I cant get the nut on, with 9 it works great.

Also, anyone know the Nm for the clutch nut torque, Haynes manual does not list it (as far as I can see)?

read the factory service manual

it is in the downloads section and has all the correct torque settings.

If it helps you to figure out what you`ve got in there, NC30 & 35 friction plates are all the same thickness but `35 steels are thicker at 2.0mm vs 1.5mm for the NC30...

Are you talking about the difference in rotating mass? I would guess that it is negligible to the point that you couldn't tell the difference.

Ok, I gone back and re checked. Turns out I did have 9 friction plates in when it was not fitting.

fits with 8 though.

steel plates are around 1.97mm and friction plates are around 3.15mm. Seems like that is a bit above the 3.06mm from above, but that should be less than 1mm additional in the stack. Any ideas?

doubt it.

you can get a proper slippe clutch for the nc30 from Japan but its not cheap.. 2000 or so in uk money. if memeory serves it was dry clutch too. i think clutch case cover was extra on top of that clutch price.

and to the op..

how many plates did it have when you took it apart? what bike (model) is it?? and if you took it apart with x amount in then it shoudl go back together with the same right?

One would hope so, but it seems too thick. cant even get the first thread to catch on the clutch nut with them all in.
