I recently bought a NC29 for track use and dont have a key for it, I dont wanna strip the loom as i may return it to the road at some point so as the barrel is now useless i want to replace it with a rocker switch of some kind but do i need to get something that can handle a certain load? I know i can just hotwire it as such but id rather have a switch.

For the NC30 track bike we took the wiring that comes into the back of the ignition barrel and spliced it into a 10A toggle switch from Maplins. 3 years of racing and no issues.
If the 29 is anything like the 30 the starter solenoid circuit handles the super high load stuff anyway. Go with a 20A one if you are paranoid.
Hope this helps!

I fitted a heavy duty toggle switch to inner fairing panel, and removed ignition switch bracket from top yoke
