Hi peeps, finally got my rvf back together after getting all the carbs/jets etc cleaned. Fully charged battery but cant get the bugger to start. Is it usual to have problems after draining all the petrol out of the system. Will it just need time and turning over

new plugs
or get the old out, get them dried over a flame - on your hob, not a dirty lighter!
Be sure you have the technique dialled....fuck all or 1% throttle and a bit of choke...few seconds, stop....few seconds, stop.
It is ont hard - they just drown the plugs nice and easy

So me sitting there with my finger on the button for ten mins probably didnt help. I didnt get the usual petrol smell you get when you flodd the engine so im not sure the petrol was actually getting through.

Not sure how you are doing this matty, but whenever I get to the stage of first fire up after everything has been apart, I use an aux fuel tank hung up above the bike and that way I can see what fuel amount is going into the carbs and can easily get to components normally buried under the tank.....as I said, no idea what your set up is mate, but if you are doing it with the tank on it can be bloody hard work to see any issues.
Also I leave the tank above the bike for a while after shutting off and can see if the level changes or not which is a good indicator to any leaks.
