Hi guys,

Just been doing the brakes on my NC today, changed the front standard hoses to braided hoses, new discs and pads.

I've got a nightmare of a issue at the minute where I cant seem to get any fluid at all through the new hoses to bleed. I took the top banjo out and made sure the master cylinder wasn't blocked, that passes fluid fine. At the bottom both hoses just seem to spit and dribble fluid out and the reservoir is full up top. Every time I keep pumping the lever there is no pressure there what so ever and no real mass of fluid comes out when I crack the nipples off. It feels as if I'm pumping thin air!

If anybody can advise us ASAP! I would be very grateful.

Pump,pump then pump some more. Getting fluid through new braided lines without a vacume takes forever and an age. If you have a syringe and a piece of hose you can push the fluid up from the caliper but best way is a vacume bleeder

Take the lines off the calipers and let them free flow into a jar with the reservoir top off..

You can speed it up by holding the banjos between finger and thumb using your digits as a one way valve.....
messy but it works.

Work the lever fairly slowly...rapid pumping just makes the fluid emulate a yoyo.

Get a large syringe from Boots and a piece of silicone air hose from a pet shop (used for aquarium pumps etc)
With the syringe pushed fully in connect the hose to it, put the hose on the open bleed nipple and pull the syringe out slowly while gently pulling the brake lever. That should pull the fluid through the pipes.
It's a poxy job but this will work.

I do it that way but without the syringe when fitting new components.

I have about 3 meters of airline from B&Q with one end slash cut.

Always use the slash cut end in yer gob and have the loose looped over an indicator or whatever when kneeling at the caliper. All you do is just suck...3 meters holds a lot of fluid and bubbles.

When the job is done or the hose 3/4 full just nip the nipple up and keep a bit suction on and pull the hose off,
then blow the fluid into your waste oil container Hang it up so it drains to the straight cut end and its good for the next time.
No need to taste brake fluid at all.

Cheap as chips.

I also have proper vacuum bleeders but rarely ever need them.

If you've got the big syringe; just reverse bleed.
I've never needed to in 40 years.
