Had it less than a week and she dies on me :(

Bought my NC29 Tuesday and it was running fine for a couple of days, left it Thursday then went to go for a ride Friday.

Started with the choke out let it warm up a bit then put the choke back in, it did cut out but then started okay straight away.

Got about 4 miles down the road, out on a dual carriageway doing a fair speed and it just died on me, like it had run out of fuel.

Looked in the tank, about half full so scratched my head for a while thought i'd give it another go and it started (eventually) all was good for 2 more miles then it died again, managed to get it going again but I noticed a lot of fuel dripping from the breather pipe.

I don't really know enough about carbs so will probably take it to a mechanic but anyone know what the problem is?

Cheers.

Problem looks to be the carbs, probably full of crap and blocking stuff up. There dead easy to sort yourself.get a haynes manual and a can of carb cleaner. Cheaper than a mechanic. Probably only take you a couple of hours with a couple of spanners and screw drivers. 8-)

Sounds like the fuel pump isn't working to me. ( you should be able to feel it pulsing with the motor running) Could be the fuel pump relay ( can be strapped out ) these normally pack up when the regrec is on its way out. Check battery voltage when running.
Good luck.

Seller told me it's had a new reg/rec and battery recently so hopefully it's not that.

Going to take the carbs apart today, never done anything like this before so wish me luck

I could well be the regrec took out the pump relay. Like I said stick a finger on the pump and crank it over , you should feel it pulsing.

first thing I'd check is the breather in the tank cap.

when it conks out open the tank cap, if it hisses then its a blocked breather

reminds me of the joke about the guy who bought a rubber doll from a specialist shop. Took it back next day with a puncture. Told the owner it went down on him, Owner said we normally charge extra for that.
No help at all but it might make you smile

Been busy so not really had time to look into it.

Took it to a mechanic and they replaced one of the rubber tubes which send fuel to the carbs and it ran great.

Till it died again :(

I think it was just out of fuel as I managed to get it started again after a lot of fiddling with the reserve tap. I'd only done around 80 km though, would expect a bit more than that before hitting reserve. That was 4 weeks ago and the weather has been rubbish so not been out on it since.

Although I've now noticed it's dripping oil on the garage floor
