So was having a bit of a play this afternoon with the NC30, got it running better than it ever has so opted to try some variations that were easily accessible!

I'd read somewhere that going total loss would yield a 1hp gain so ran it with the reg/rec unplugged then ran it with it connected. The results were surprising!



Over 1hp lost with it disconnected! I did a few runs of each to check for consistency, and they all came out near as damn it the same.

Wonder why? Is it because the Ignitech likes a lot of volts?

Total loss only really helps when you remove the entire alternator.

Just unplugging the reg/rec won't be in any way helpful as you've found out.

Very true, however I'd have thought there would have been a bit of a gain as there is less of a load on the alternator. Not a 1hp loss throughout!

And the question of why is there a loss is bugging me. If the readouts had been the same it'd have made a bit more sense!

Above the line is lean and below is rich.

Thanks Paul, I'm quite happy with it barring the low power, but then it was roasting in the dyno room & not much cold air coming from the outside!
Along the dotted line is perfect, above being lean & below being rich. Fi bikes can be made to near enough follow the line, carbs will never manage it!

So this would seem pretty good then ? (sorry to hijack)
