Hi All,

I am in the process of rebuilding my NC30 Brake capilers, I have ascertained that new pistons are required however upon searching for pistons I have come across what appears to be conflicting information regarding the piston sizes

Large piston = 30mm x 22.5mm - matches what I pulled out of the caliper

Small piston = this is where I am concerned, Rick Oliver say the small is 27mm x 22.5mm however when I measure mine with
the vernier it come out at 25.5mm... and the bore of the caliper appears to match this.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me...

I have a 1992 VFR400R NC30 imported from Japan, the calipers a Nissin Calipers

Please help

Hey,

I've got the same thing as you; Japanese spec 1990 NC30, front brake pistons are 30mm and 25.5mm diameters. In looking for seals I've come across a few vendors who recognise this discrepancy, both local shops and online. Basically, if you need to buy seals, you need to measure your brake pistons, and supply the sizes when purchasing.

Rick Oliver says no such thing!

All models of NC30 have small front caliper pistons which are 25.5 mm and I don`t supply a `pattern` version because nobody makes one, so your only option is OE Honda at around £30 each without seals.

The small pistons in the NC35 calipers are 27mm and are clearly listed as NC35 parts in my catalogue.

The larger pistons in both types of calipers are 30mm diameter.

Rick
