Carrying a Pillion

The Mrs is finally taking the plunge into the bike world, eventually once she has the cash she's going for the Direct Access but until then she'll ride Pillion with me. Went out the other day for a test run, increased the rear tyre pressure to compensate for the extra load but the bike still felt a little unstable. Might be I'm not used to how it handles with someone perched on the back or perhaps I need to make adjustment to the shock. Any tips on making the ride as smooth as possible when carrying a pillion?

600's suffer with a pillion 400's have no chance. Unless you have some fancy suspension adjusting it will probably make no difference at all, you could try windind the preload up a bit if you can get it to move

Bugger! This is the first time I've carried a pillion and I've only had my bike licence since 2010, so still not many miles under my belt. Sounds like I'll just have to take it easy, which I was doing anyway, and work a bit more on my clutch control

Carrying pillions on NC30's is hard work, i just try and stay as smooth as possible but the extra weight so high up will mean it is difficult. I take my mrs out on the CBR600f all the time and I'm used to it now, does take a while to adapt your riding style though.
