What speeds can be achieved on an nc30?

And is there any helpful tips to squeeze a little more without going ott?

stock gearing (sprockets wheels etc) providign your bike is in good enough condition and you're not too heavy you can probably get to around 12500rpm in 6th gear, which is about 125mph (in 6th 1000rpm is about 10mph)

Some crazy gearing might squeeze a bit more out the top end (providing there is engine power) and your willing to sacrifice accelleration

17/37 instead of a 15/40 (cant remember if they make a 17 or it if fits) but this would give a top speed of 150mph circa at 12500rpm in 6th

Or a 16/38 for around 140mph (again dependant on power)

to be honest, stock gearing really suits the bike quite well, the only changes i'd make was if there was some weird track I was racing on that had either a lot of accelleartion bursts and little top end, or massive straights.

There isn't really a lot to do, if your intersting in going faster than around 120mph probbaly best getting a bigger bike, these bikes not made for long high speed rides.

Besides, most peopel who have ridden for a while on a 400 or sub machine will agree you can still have just as much (if not more) fun than blasting down a road at 160mph as you can at 60mph on some crazy roads

Speaking of yobbish type stuff. How long would you dare run one flat out, say down the autobahn, at 125mph. Melty pistons much?

i went from swansea to llantrisant on m4(about 25-30 miles flat out on mine(indicated 125mph)..didnt throttle of once,was expecting it to go BANG!...never did though!!!thats on 14/42 sprockets..well impressed i was.....officer!!

FWIW my RVF did a real 131 at bruntingthorpe with a datalogger - to be fair it did have Bruce Dunn on board lol

standard RVF - well with a can on too.

Mine will hit 14k rpm in 6th on the occasion I have been naughty and taken it out testing on the road. +1 on the rear sprocket and that's it. Still gets out dragged by the bloody ZXR's on the straights on track though.

Why would the pistons melt?

they will only melt from inadequate cooling due to either bad mixture or insuficient rad etc.

ive run one flat out till the tank ran out with no ill effect..

Hmm I didn't think the pistons would actually melt but then, as I really was on a stretch of german motorway, some miles from home, I didn't want to run the risk of doing some damage. Nice to know though - must try harder next time, I only held it open for a few miles, which seems a bit soft now

And yes I still got blasted by some Kawasaki thing doing an effortless 160, not to mention the mercs and bmw's merrily cruising along, but that wasn't the point, the VFR and I loved it. I also realised the benefit of a clear screen, after not being able to see through the black one when tucked in properly.

Neosophist.. where did you run for ~100miles flat out?
