valve clearances

I've just checked the clearances on my borthers nc29 engine, a few odd things got thrown up while i was checking.

im no stranger to valve clearance checks as i do my zxr race bike every 2 rounds.

Number 1 inlet valve on cylinder 2 has completely closed up, cant even get a 0.05 feeler under it.
Also when checking other valves i found i could fit larger and larger feelers through, i noticed that it was actually compressing the spring allowing larger feelers to fit though.

Now is this a sign of worn valve springs? or is it just a normal honda thing.
The bike runs and was raced end of last year but wasn't running great, obviously the closed up valve is playing a big part of that.

Im going to get some shims to try get the closed up valve back into tolerance then run it up and see where i get with it.
The other valves all were within clearance, most towards the loose end of the limit.


any info would be great, so used to working on the uber simple zxr. honda confuse me haha
