Got a mate with one of these things it's not been given much of a run for about 3 years although it's been started on occasion. From what's been said it sounds like a fuel pump issue but apart from cleaning the carbs and making sure the battery's charged is there anything else to look out for ???
Do the plugs foul on these ?
I've already laughed at it and told them to buy a Yamaha but they've already put silly bodywork on it.

Standard 30's don't have a fuel pump so not that.
I would think carbs r dirty not flowing fuel properly and has killed any plugs getting gas.
Plugs die very easily.
Also battery check
Once carbs are clean try heating plugs with blow torch or gas hob or get new.
Then when u start it, choke NO throttle let it catch and warm up for a min or two before blipping the throttle
Hope that helps a bit
Cheers
P.s the V4 will still be running in 100 years if it's looked after

not sure about the yam though

OK - that's about what I thought. We'll have a crack at it and see if it starts on carb cleaner
The V4 might run but the charging circuit will be buggered

plugs die.
and then they die some more.
Mine was just parked after the last cadwell 2013 TD -I started it again a few weeks ago...bit of choke and the technique - just take the slack out of the throttle..not open at all...and shazzam! into life and made me feel like a proud dad

The Bimota used to foul plugs if I used iridium, but since I changed back to copper (twin electrode) they're fine.
I take it once they're fouled they're fouled and you cant clean them ?
Oh, if I remember rightly changing the plugs in the rear cylinders is a fucker .... ?

Rear plugs are a gift, front plugs are a Cnut !
Heat the plugs if you can
No throttle at all
Full choke
If it doesn't start after 3-4 goes walk away, you don't want to foul the plugs too bad
And it's not everyone's liking but a bit flammable gas ( easy start, deodorant or something) sprayed towards the air box usually get things moving, why put air in when you can put flammable air in ! Lol

If it won't fire and no fuel getting through, check the fuel tap. It has a diaphragm and vacuum hose to open it. Maybe, after time this has perished/broken/etc.
I must admit my NC starts fine (so does my FZR). Full choke, no throttle, push the button.

My mates RVF has let him down once or twice and it's always been the vacuum hose.

That sounds more like whats happening. I'll use my Bimota SB6 priming tool, (its a pipette)

IMHO most starting problems on infrequently used bikes is from lack of fresh fuel in the carbs.
Run carbs dry before parking up. Leave the fuel tap OFF.
Prime them by sucking on a bit of vac pipe on the fuel tap - suck for at least 30 seconds. It seems to take an age priming the carbs by using the starter.
Contraversially, I don't subscribe to the fact they eat plugs. The plug caps age, corrode internally then give a weak spark.
