I am building a sort of street fighter style bike from my nc 30 and would like to change the headlight and clocks but I'm sure I read somewhere that if you take the clocks off the bike will not rev out properly....has anyone done this mod and if so what do I need to look out for.....

cheers

I imagine that this is because of the speed restrictor built in...if you remove the restrictor (it is in the speedo I think) then it won't rev.

Heaps of workarounds for this. Can just wire a resistor into the loom to sort it. Just google NC30 de-restriction and you'll get all the info you need.

no problem, dont even need to use the restistor, just wire 12 volts into the speed sense wire so the bike isnt aware the clocks have been disconnected and your good to go

great stuff thanks....I think I will be able to suss this out with the manual. ie finding the speed sense wire...then just give it a live feed? so I assume the tachometer is electronic....can I use a vapor tachometer / speedo unit...has anyone fitted one......?

If the bikes tacho signal is compatile then yes i dont see why not, a lot of universal clocks allow multiple settings of tacho signal, plenty of aftermarket units been fitted to nc30.s

the speedo cable is easy there is one plug that goes into theback of the speedo unit, it has 3 wires.

this is your fella here.

ive used wire loop in the past but some peopel put a resistor there to be safe (not sure why?) the sp unit just bridges the wires...
