Ok there folks so for the last few nights I have begun my RVF rebuild. I finally managed to wheel it out this morning for a few shots.

I intend to strip everything apart, replacing or refurbishing as I go with if available better parts. Some of the work has already been done, but I want to take it much further :D

I have started with a strip of the rear hub, and will move forward as I progress

I hate you gypsy ( :D ) Well I can now I got the CB250- I can actually take time over it.

The forks are rebuilt stock items, refurbed lowers but have the after market adjusters fitted. Body work wise, I have a full set of OEM plastics freshly sprayed in repsol colours.

So far:
Brand new copy of full HRC system, HRC spec carbs, new KandN Filter, lots of carbon replacements and the usual bits like screen, braided lines etc
Intending to add:
Side stroke steering damper, quickshifter, hugger, Race rear shock, race rear sets, Pazzo levers, programmable CDI and more carbon. Then I'll be looking to go for the 440 big bore motor and see what else is around closer to then

I hope to have it done on a quickish turnaround, February is the latest I hope to have it completed.

Actually I want it done now, and it to be sunny seems like ages since I rode a real bike :(

Looks great, the wheels look very nice, have they been polished or chromed?

So I got impatient the other day and wanted to se what the final product is going to be something like, so I quickly put the body work on, looked at it for a bit then re-dismantled it and put it away. So a little teaser....

Of course things like the seat pads are only placed on, and exhaust is hanging in its strap and will sit more inline with the fairings but you get the rough idea. There will be much more fancy bits going on too.

I have also been working on it. I stripped and rebuilt the rear hub, it now rotates effortlessly. I have also been giving the frame/engine spars some cosmetic attention as well as some other bits and peices.

For anyone who hasnt seen the hub:

It is a real pain to strip down with out the right tools. A good quality pair of large circlip pliers helps no end! I have opened a few of these up now and have found that grit and grime ingress really plays havoc with them, and usually results in more force needed for the chain adjustment which results in the adjustment castellations being damaged. Also if you have drilled the swingarm for the rear brake re-routing I'd recommend a strip and clean, as the swarf gets in there too! Luckily my castellations are still there, with the clean and re-grease and use of the pro-arm tool, I intend to keep them there! :D

Nasty grit and swarf

The swarf from the drilling of the swingarm that will inevitably ingress into the hub:

Nice and clean ready for greasing then re-assembly
