NC29 Poss Gearbox Failure any advice

Hi all first post since acquiring an NC29, had most of the usual issues Carb, Rectifier, Fork Seals mostly rectified by forum information.
So the problem, on pulling away from a roundabout opened up the throttle in second at about 11k rpm massive bang, loss of power. Clutched in but bike won't change up or down gear and on clutch release bike sounds like a bag of spanners.
I coast to side of road, the bike can be revved normally clutch in no massive dramas. However can't let go do clutch or it sounds like hell is breaking loose from the internals of my bike. So shut her down on inspection bike is leaking oil appears to be near the front sprocket, checked oil levels this morning all good. The chain is tight on top but loose on bottom was also fine this morning. That's where I'm at.
Now stood beside bike waiting for the AA to come and cart away what must be a very poorly bike.
Anyone with any experience on what I have said your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thank god for phones not only to call the breakdown but can post on the forum while I wait.
