Hi peeps, I'm new to rebuilding bikes and need some advice!

Rebuilding a set of forks and a shock for an NC30, is this easy or should I leave it to the professionals!?

Plus if going to the professionals how much should I be looking to pay and could anybody recommend somebody!?

Cheers

P.s sorry if this is in the wrong section didn't know if it should go in general of workshop!

It all depends how handy you are with a set of spanners really. The shock i would always send away unless you have a spring compressor and the right tools.
Shock service probably around £150 - 250 depending what they have to do and around the same for the forks.

Forks are pretty easy. I think the forks on the NC30 would be slightly easier to get apart than those on the NC35, but neither should be much of an issue if you are reasonably good with a set of spanners. I found that it took about the same time to get the things off and back on the bike as it did to pull them apart and change the seals.

As above, I'd not do a shock at home unless you have really decent kit. Fork legs have only a fairly light loading on them so if you get it wrong when taking them apart, the worst you are likely to suffer is a shower of oil. There's plenty of force behind the spring on the shock and the body is filled with high pressure gas.

Iirc you dont need specialist tools for rwu forks although a rattle gun saves a lot of faffing about. The shock id always send to a specialist with the correct tools
