Has anyone managed to setup and run pod type filters or K&N cone filters on CV carbs?

Yes
I have a set of k&n type filters on my track bike that I got from Hein Gerick when they went bust.
It seems to run very well with them although it's tuned to buggery and has none standard jetting.

I know its not something id normaly want to do but just considering options as finding airbox rubbers that fit is an impossible task. I did manage to get one set I have on from soaking in acetone but once removed again they were useless.

You can use the 1WG genesis units that are still available; It is a known "fix".
Or wait until Litekblair has the 3TJ replacements in production, he is developing them now !

If you go down the "pods" route; you could be chasing performance problems for weeks that may not even be fuel related.
From past posts by others; they had lots of work to do when swapping from a bike that ran correctly with the airbox
fitted. You have not even that luxury and will be trying to set the fueling with no reference points.

The one thing I have read is ; on the 600 if pods are used, a stand off tube linking the pods to the carbs and increasing the intake length does aid ease of tuning. The 400 maybe similar but who knows ?

If you do decide to try pod filters, don't buy the cheap chrome end capped ones- buy foam ones without end caps. I don't know if the same thing applies to diesels but on strokers the intake pulses reflect off the end caps back through the carb and cause all manner of jetting headaches.

Something like this-

might be a good place to start. Stick a tupperware box over the top to create a sort of airbox effect?

With my old 3en1, when I fitted a Thundercat Tank. I fitted a standard jetted set of 600 3he carbs and Pods and away it went.

ive just put sum on mine this morn i have fzr400 3en1 cus me air box rubbers are solid, didnt have are filter inanyway and holes had bin drilled in it by guy i got it of to help get more air i fink?it has bin up jeted to 107.5 and has diff can on it. but it runs and goes like fck and im sure it piks up better aswell wiv pods and it realy sounds shit hot now, they only cheep ones of ebay wiv chrome tops from china, the glue was crap on all ov em wen i cheked so i pulled apart and used silocone to stik em tgever again, there sound now, but think i will try and get the ones that kayla talked about cus dont no much about bikes meself.down side is. if im out and it rains they will suck water in through the gap ov dummy tank i reckon,so im going to chop my air box to sea if it will go round all pods to try and solve that problam.
