Some years ago my brother picked up an m-max derestricter for his 3en2, all the instructions were in Japanese but it said 3en2 so he bought it - never actually fitted it though and haven't been able to find it for years.
That bike is long since gone by I now have a 3en2 in my collection and have just come across an m-max derestricter in one of my many boxes of spare parts (not all fzr) sadly no instructions.
So my question is two fold ....
1 - is the unit I've found actually for the fzr?
It has four wires - two red with blue stripe (one male, one female bullet connector) and two green with blue stripe (one male, one female)
2 - if so where do I fit it?

This is what I have on a 3EN2.

It plugs in behind the clocks;

Unplug the black 3 wire connector block and single blue/green wire and fit the derestrictor in series.
There is also this type; which I believe was designed for the 3TJ ,but will work on a 3EN2 , it fits at the TCI box; again in series.

My bikes have the KMH to MPH converter but I'd like an M-Max for the cdi if I can find one.

Boris; would that 2nd pic M-Max fit on your TCI ? or even behind the speedo ?
I have tried to find a pic. of a 3TJ TCI to see if the wiring is suitable but had no luck.

I guess it's a matter of finding the wires and patching it in ?

I had a look at the linked ad yesterday to see if the wiring was going to be plug and play ; it seems not.
I have to assume all the 3TJ TCI boxes are the same wiring otherwise the 4DX unit would not swap over ?
It seems strange for Motrax to have made and sold two different types of derestrictor for the same model (3EN)
They are designed as plug/play; no cut/shut should be required.
It does seem that the 3TJ instruments are different wiring to the 3EN2.

The 3EN2 does not have the 2 separate bullet connector tails shown in the ad above; this may be where the second type of derestrictor plugs in on a 3TJ . (cannot tell wiring colours from pic though ! )
What type was the unit you sold to Kayla last year ?

				The top type.
It's not something I'm desperate need of - I have a 4DX one. I'm still collecting nice bits to do a 600 convertion and got a 3TJ SP box, I think they have a steeper ignition curve so It might be useful (with the red line adjusted). I picked up a set of Bimota YB9 downpipes, that don't fit a YB9 the other day.
