They are tatty and I am going to repaint them in satin black.

First question is what is the best way to remove the paint from the yoke. I don't really want to use a wire wheel as I want to retain the 'texture' on the yoke. They are stock so I assume its just paint already on them from the factory. Do I just use some sort of paint stripper?

Planning on grey primer, normal old rattle can satin black from Halfords and laquer to protect it a little from keys etc. Any pointers appreciated.

Grit blasting is the best option,
Paint stripper is next but wash thorughly afterwards,
Don't use grey primer on bare metal get some etch primer.
And if you use ordinary matt it will be flat finnish,
If you want texture look at the Plasticoat range.

when I say texture I mean the actual yoke, its not 'smooth'.

paint stripper should be ok as long as its safe for the metal underneath.

as above though, use a proper primer and use decent paint or it wil just be a waste of time and money.

you need to use some kind of primer like this to get it to stick and not come off.
