not in yokes. Trying to change seals as they are leaking. I cant remove the top bolt, is there a trick to doing this.......it seems really tight and I am scared to tighten it in a vice too hard just in case I damage the darn thing.in addition, when it is in a vice, so horizontal, it pi55es out with the worlds worst smelling oil.

I am going to mess this up. wish I had money for a mechanic!

Rattle gun or clamp a top yoke onto the fork to give some leaverage just dont clamp it where the thread for the top nut is

As DM hints at, if possible put it back in the lower triple clamp and tighten it up, then undo top bolt.

Will have to have a good old search for the lower clamp as I tried the vice again and cant get it to go. Why on earth is everything so hard to do when you have no idea what you are doing.............will have to get on youtube tonight and do some proper research!

Its only hard when you dont have the proper tools, it usually takes me between 1 and 2 hours to do a full strip and upgrade on NC forks including new bushes.

And it's a hell of a lot easyer when the forks are in the bike.

Agreed would be better if they were on the bike but I only have the forks here, no bike. I will sort them this weekend. Had some new oil seals off eBay months ago but have now ordered oem ones for peace of mind so hopefully they come today but doubt it.

Am doing seals and rick Oliver's upgrade on them.

this one is 12v so you can run it from a car or a medium sized car battery as it comes with clips, same as the one i use.

best 30 quid you can spend, will undo anything with minmal effort.

+1 - my one even undid the hub nut on my neighbours land rover jeep type thing a couple weeks back. Rusted to fuck it was too. Half a done "bangs" and it spun off. Brilliant tool.

Got the yoke on it and it's come apart. Need to know if the bushes are ok or not. I will get a pick up in a sec. Can someone tell me if they are ok to reuse or not. I thought they should look copper colour?
