Back into the CBR400!


NC29 aftermarket Fairings - Any recommended suppliers?
Hoping people here have recent good experience of aftermarket fairings that actually fit and look ok!



Is now the time to buy?
I've got to ask - is now pretty much the time to buy aftermarket Fairings, if you are contemplating it?!


The Reason I ask is this:
1) Is it a case of dwindling numbers of NC29 still circulation out on the roads?

2) Manufacturers looking to simply run down their aftermarket Fairing stocks and/or stopping production altogether, in favour of high volume "New" Trade?

3) Ie the quality of aftermarket fairings - is pretty much as good as it will every be now?

3) As time goes on, the only ones left on sale, lets say on Ebay, are the old poor quality stock, that no one has bought for exactly that reason?


Be interest in your thoughts on this!

I own a NC29, I decided to go down the after market fairing route, I got in contact with a guy from Hong Kong, he sprayed them exact to my specification, I paid £240, plus an extra £40 import duty... the only problem I had were that some of the holes for the smaller screws/bolts where missing! But overall I am pleased with the quality of them. They fit better than I was expecting as well!

One thing I always wonder is that do these fairings have the brackets that are on the inner nose fairing for infills and fuse box? Btw, my new NOS originals put on a couple of years ago were an absolute pain to fit and took time to bed in so dont think Honda Oem would be a breeze to fit cause they were not. Now they fit like a glove.

I bought some of the chinese fairings off Ebay and the clips on the inner nose fairing aren't there. There isn't anything for the fuse box either. They tack on some 'L' brackets inside the nose fairing, so you can bolt the upper side fairings onto those but it's not flash.

It's not too hard to come up with some sort of 'workaround' though to fit the fairings. You just need to remember that they will not bolt straight on and will all require a bit of work, drilling holes bigger to get better fitment etc.

At the end of the day they're good for the price and look really decent once fitted (in my opinion).

Yes Gimly I agree for the price they cant be too bad when you consider the cost and ache of obtaining original Honda parts. After years of trying I still can not obtain a decent left mid for a type 7, new or used. My original type 7 panels were without vat and delivery around £185 each, seat panels £140 each and a 3 month wait in some cases. My biggest coup was winning a new NOS nose cone for £165 on ebay else that was around £700 at the time. The cheapest parts were the rear centre seat panel and the front mudguard, these were £17 and £65. The vee panel was £100, finally the headlight surround was around £40. So work the cost of that out!

Btw, D Silver still has a new white type 7 headlight surround in stock and a nh193p vee panel.

I have just picked up an NC29 with fairings in fairly good trim. I was going to paint them however I am thinking of bolting on some of the chinese repsol fairings, what have peoples experience of them been? Does the paint just peel off or have they been done right?

EDIT - plus, if I am going to then go and have the tank painted to match the fairings, would it be worth having the fairings laquered over?

The Chinese fairings come clear-coated already. Looks like a good 2 or 3 coats of clear as well? So no need to apply extra lacquer.

I went for the Konica Minolta theme and sprayed my tank myself...just a white colour to match.

You could also paint your tank gloss black and apply vinyl stickers to tie in the orange and red of the REPSOL colours??

Thats good to know, I have read a couple of different opinions on them, but it seems that they are cracking value
