Just wondering really, my brakes seized up on me the other day and my mates dad says its the 'o' rings inside the caliper might need changing but he doesnt knowe for sure cos he hasnt taken them apart yet. Im thinkin of getting them apart this weekend with him and giving the calipers and rings a good clean. Ill soak the rings in diesel for a bit i think because if they dont need changing i wont buy anymore.

If i do need some does anyone know where i can get somenew 'O' rings for the calipers on my NC30?

Are you serious!

You are talking about soaking rubber in diesel and then relying them to save your life when you need to stop!

From your comments I would advise you take your callipers to someone to refit the seals. PS there are 8 per calliper (not including the internal ones)

get a rebuild kit from wemoto....includes everything you need to rebuild the calipers after stripping them down for a good clean.
also get a manual or if you've got one it tells you all you need to know.

I replaced the seals when my rear brake was seized. Got new seals from my local Honda dealer (Pidcock in Nottingham) and they had them in stock. They were 5.23 per set (piston seals and dust seals). I'd just replace them, to save you doing it again when they re-seize (but I only needed 2 sets for the rear calliper, you'd need 8 sets !)

Hiya,
I didnt get new seals( but it wont do any harm i'm just skint) just reused the old ones. Clean out the seal grooves in the caliper best you can( i used a dremal with a soft brush works great) then put plenty of rubber grease (i hate going into a car shop and asking for that i dont think halfarts sell it but most good car part shops do) in the grooves before you put the seals back in, then put some on the piston etc.

really appreciate the advice, think ill get 2 sets of new seals at the end of the month to give me peace of mind knowing i have new ebc pads, braided hoses and nicely rebuilt calipers. should see me through the summer nicely. thanks for the links.
