I'm currently rebuilding an NC30 and I've got a few problems with the front end.

In summary I have a set of early NC30 right way up forks in a bad way, given the cost of putting them right I'm considering other options, i.e. even if I spend all the money on new stantions, springs etc. I still won't have brilliant forks at the end.

So....

I've been reading the forums and looking on eBay and there seem to be a number of options, I'm just looking for a few more details.

It appears I have the following options....

1. ZXR400L forks with Rick Oliver yokes. £200 for the forks on eBay and £300 for yokes. If I do this what brakes, wheels and discs can I use, i.e. I'd like to keep the originals if possible.

2. ZX636 forks with Rick Oliver yokes. Similar in price to option 1. but newer (and therefore in theory better). Again wheel, brakes and discs is the question. Also what year should I aim for in the forks?

3. CBR600RR forks with Rick Oliver conversion kit. Seems a little cheaper (conversion kit is less than the new yokes), again what wheel, brakes and discs can/should I use and what year CBR forks would be required. Does this use the CBR or NC30 yokes?

4. NC35 forks. I've abandoned this option as they seen really hard to find.

5. Triumph 675 forks. Apparently these will fit in the NC35 yokes, so I'd need a set of them, plus the Rick Oliver conversion kit (NC35 forks in NC30 frame) and a set of the forks. I can use the original wheel and disc, but will need new brake callipers.

6. Ducati forks. There was some talk on the forums on this, but it's gone quiet and it's expensive, so I think I've abandoned that too.

7. Finally, I've just noticed the RaceTech cartridge emulators for NC30 early type forks on the Rick Oliver list. What do these do and how does the end result compare with the options above?

So lots of options (maybe too many , with lots of questions. The bike won't be used much (I have others to play with too), but will be ridden hard on the road on occasions. I'm looking for the best quality I can get at a sensible price.

How about a second hand set of later model NC30 forks with Rick Oliver springs and spacers in them. By far the cheapest option and no need to muck around with yokes and brakes.

I would do this. I run a similar setup and its great.

Unless your building a proper racer and trying to get lower lap times anything else is probably over-kill for normal riding.

newer NC30 forks certainly seems the easiest option, I'll throw up a wanted add and see if I get pick up a set in decent nick. I don't mind having them refurbed (oil, springs, powder coat, etc).
