Hi guys.
Just got a NC35 from my friend. Good price & well looked after. He doesn't use it any more so I'm putting it on the track.
The stanchions are very badly pitted & need attention. Possibly replacing.
However, before I embark on the costly option of replacing them, is there any method of smoothing or repairing them to a usable standard or is replacing them the only option?
They are perfectly straight & will be overhauled.
I've read on here about lightly sanding them & polishing then back but no results were posted...
Cheers guys

Get em re chromed.
You can't sand them as the rust will already be through the chrome itself and down the the steel.

Are they pitted in the area of travel,If so then they will damage the seals,If not don't worrie about it.
If they are pitted in that area then get them re-chromed.

Cheers guys.
I presume a re-chrome is nearly as dear as new ones without any issues.

AM Philpot in Luton are meant to be good, I got a quote a while back for about £120 all in.
Probably better than buying some cheap Chinese shit off ebay for not much less!

Completely agree.
Wasn't going with the Chinese ones anyway.
There great for screens & farings & stuff, but not such a critical part.
Think I'll go with new ones eitherway.
With shipping over & back, there f'all in it & I'll have new ones.
