Hi, i am looking to get a louder sound out of my bike and was going to get a new can but then i thought why not cut the one i already have down. It is a dual port blue flame can and it does sound nice but it's not loud enough for my liking (the baffles are out btw)
Is it easy to cut it down and more importantly would it affect the bikes running or burn the exhaust valves out?
I've heard both good and bad things about cutting down cans and would like to know what you guys think.
All help will be greatly appreciated as i'm hoping to get it done soon depending on what you lot think.

you will be happy to know, that i have a blue flame twin port can on my nc30, which i chopped 15cm off, and sounds AMAZING!!! :D, i also have both baffles out.

it runs the same as when it was full length.

Real easy to do, i did a harris ti in an hour!!

First drill out rivetts on the end cap, if there 3mm use a 3.5mm drill bit,(the heads will fall off)
remove end cap,
use masking tape around the point you want to cut, to ge a straight line around it,
then angle grider with cutting disc, cut on your edge of tape through the outer sleave,trim packing flush,
your left with a cut down sleave but full lentgh inner pipe,(or pipes in your case) cut these leaving about 10mm on(10mm sticking further out than the sleave) ,this is what will sit into your end cap,
fettle your end cap back on ,mark out holes, drill and rivett back on and jobs a good`en!!!

Its an idea aswell if yours has inner baffles (road legal) to keep them, i tapped a 5mm hole under the outlet pipe to put the baffle back in incase it fails a noise test for racing or trackdays.

the blue flame can is an easy one to do,
but ive just shortened a micron can, and wot a pain in the ass that was.

it's quite a bit louder than before, but could still be cut down more.
the reason i didnt cut it too short was because i dont like them when they are mega short, plus if was much shorter, the badge would be covered up by the can strap, unless you use an adapter to move the the strap.

I cut this can down 15cm and its significantly louder with that motogp style roar when accelerating, it has no baffles so thats probably why.. Also welded up and underseat for it

i want to make a new system for my nc30 but am having a hard time finding a company that supplies the materials required like stainless or titanium pipe and parts to make the end cans like sleeves end caps & baffle, do any of you guys know of a web site or company who sells this type of stuff? any help would be appreciated. thanks.

firstly to make your own pipework your gonna need to have a tig welder?? and be pretty good at it, secondly you can get stainless tube from places like MPS (metal product services) or just yell.com steel suppliers in your area, theres a guy in burscough near southport that makes cans all shapes and sizes called MTC there your best bet for sleaves and caps...
