Hi
I have just removed my carbs to update the main jet size as per cammos rejecting guide, currently running stock 1989 110 jets all round. Now it's on the bench I noticed the pipework which is attached to the carbs is covered in a silicon sealer around all the joints! Is this a factory thing or has someone done this as a bodge up?
Nick

Bodge up!
Silicone and petrol don't get on, the silicone will eventually dissolve.

That's what I thought, looks like I will be ordering some pipework and swivel joints

The silicone is not standard, but it depends which parts you're referring to as to whether it will be an issue.
If it's the plastic t-pieces that redirect air from the upwards carb slide motion that you're referring to (parts #4 in the below link) then it's not a big deal - these are usually held in place by rubber bands (parts #30 - they do perish) and are not air tight as standard.

Hope that helps.

That's the part I have the silicone on, I am unsure of the correct terminology !
Thanks for your help at least I can stop worrying now, so glad there are so many people with nc experience on here, I've never worked on bike before only cars and if something goes wrong you have an extra two wheels to rely on!!!
