Choke Cable Position

Hi I'm just re-installing my carbs and have a question about the choke cable arm. When the choke is off should the choke arm be all the way back towards the left hand side of the bike or about half way along? I'm assuming that half way is the off position rather than 50% of choke.

Here's a picture of the choke in the off position:

And this is how much the sliders/plundgers are out in this position:

Would someone let me know if this is correct? It's one thing i didn't get a pic of before removing them.
It's an RO choke conversion by the way, not that it should make any difference I suppose

Thanks

I'll have to check my bike when I get home tonight after work, but from memory the choke cable arm should be a lot further to the left than what yours is, and the plungers should be fully seated, yours looks like they're about half way out.

Can you physically move the choke cable arm further to the left, or is that as far as the cable will allow it to travel?

Thats as much un-sheethed cable there is this is with the RO choke fully closed and therefore the arm can't travel back any further.

I could clamp the cable futher over to the left but it won't be clamped on the metal stop as it is in the pics.

Has anyone else fitted the yoke mounted choke?

I fitted one of Rick's choke conversions and don't remember having issues (but may have!).

That said, just clamp the cable further down. There shouldn't be a problem if you don't overtighten it (perhaps use some light threadlock on the screw).

As Cammo said, just clamp it further down, I had to and it makes no difference.

The amount of bare cable available isn't long enough but it's no biggie :peace:

it loks like the choke plungers are being pulled out a little?

All you need to do is make sure that when fully off the arm isnt engaging the plungers at all.

Plungers are all the way in when choke is closed now. Although I don't get their full travel out with the new choke open full.

I wouldn't worry, the standard setup doesn't pull them out all the way. Most of their action is in the initial movement.
