I have just got the starter motor out after moving a few things out the way (fuel pump, sub air filter).... thank the gods i have small hands!
after undoing the 3 bolts.. i found it solid; so i used a socket extension bar, hammer & tapped the shoulder of the motor from the LHS of the bike. it did pop out after a few good taps.

sooooo..... any tips on how to get the sod back in to the engine seeing as it was a bugger to come out?
i imaging i need to coat the rubber seal & hole with oil to make it easier...

You will probably find it goes back in real easy, bit of oil on the seal will help.

I lined mine up then used the three bolts to pull it in, piece of cake, took about as long as it takes to tighten three bolts.

Make sure the starter motor is a good one, check the bushes or you could replace junk with junk.

its off to be split & checked at auto leckys at the mo.
The motor was re-conditioned 5-6 years ago by the same company. i bought a 2nd hand starter motor, brushes/seals etc new from Honda; gave the lot to them to re-do.
Its now that motor that might be causing an issue now.
Bike isnt starting properly; "looks" like a flat battery. Charging system tested good (for once!), Battery tested fine, starter relay/main fuse tested ok; stater motor is last chink in the chain. If that tests ok.. i'm stumped!
Bike needs more work doing to it as it is. Forks need rebuilding, rear light needs changing back to my custom built LED ones. then MOT it.. if it starts!
