just a wandering if anyone has used this combo profile tyre on the road on the RVf?

seems the most common to get at a reasonable price second hand to do me over winter and maybe nxt MOT in march, which i might end up getting nxt pay packet

i am curious about the front in particular, as i have ran a rear 160/60 fine before. ever any clearance, or rubbing issues with mudguard, v-piece etc?

on my 30 the 120/70 rubbed the mudguard..

Have read that it may get your v piece and rads too if you are a fatty

Never run them before but...

Front Tyre.

120/60 Sidewall Height: 7.2cm
120/70 Sidewall Height: 8.4cm

Rear Tyre

150/60 Sidewall Height: 9.0cm
160/60 Sidewall Height: 9.6cm

As you can see.. the front has the biggest gain in height (1.2cm)

You'll need to measure up^_^... it WILL throw your speedo out though, not sure what it'll do to handling.

The NC35 has

Front: 17 x 3.5
Rear: 17 x 4.5

According to a useful 'Rim to Tyre' chart, the following tyres should 'in theory' fit on the rim.

Rear:

140/70*17 3.50/4.00/4.50

FWIW I've not tried it but I did put a 120/70 on my SV which previously had a 120/65 on and had to move the mudguard out slightly.

The NC35 does have slots for the mudguard mount so you should be able to move it up slightly.

stock sizes on a zxr are 120/60/17 and 160/60/17

on the same size rims.. i think ?

i switched to a 120/70/17 front after running out of front tyre at pembrey, had to drop the yokes another 5mm or so to get the steering back, other than that no problems.

The 70 series front on my '30 rubbed on the v-piece, it depends a lot on your front suspension setup (especially much the forks show over the triples).

I've never gone back to one since my track bike has bigger radiators, and that could get really messy.

dave i think it should be ok to run a 160 on the back but to fit the 120/70 i think you'll need to bring the forks back to a standard height (not 5 odd mm through the yoke like you have atm) and just ride a little slower,braking a bit earlier and lighter for corner.

you have ricks stiffer fork springs so that'll help the cause a little and most of the guys on here have used 120/70 on the track where they have been braking very hard for corners etc

if you put the forks back to stock height,stiffen the fork a little if it needs it and just ride with your head i think you might be ok.

had problems with the front tyre hitting the rad under hard braking (120/70-17)but sorted the forks now so it doesn't touch.

sorted the forks as in stiffer and not dropping the forks through the yokes? any problems with the mudguard?

not dropped the forks through the yolks,gonna get the forks sorted my Maxton before the season starts. if the mudguard touches just adjust it, 2 mins of a job
