I got a price for checking my valve clearances and getting my carbs balanced,
The price was 256.48,
This included a £20 call out charge,
5 labour hours at £44.50
And two litres of motul oil at £6.99 each is this a good price for this to been carried out ?

I got quoted by my local Honda dealership £525 for a major service, the major component of that would have been the valve clearances, and they wouldn't have done the carbs, needless to say I turned them down and found someone who really knew what they were doing and charged a lot less. I'd say you got a not bad price there, but as with most things depends how good the guy with the spanner is...

A lot of the guys do this themselves, valve clearances are quite involved but carbs are relatively accessible and there is a really good guide on carb servicing/balancing by Cammo (stickied somewhere), plus you learn how to take of them yourself which helps save cash in the future, as well as just being cool :)
