Hello,

I've to MOT my 'new' 96 cb400 bike in a few weeks time. Can anyone advise on how to get the headlight alignment correct?

Cheers,
Catflaps

Catflaps,

Not really an answer to your question, but I've been MOT ing our '92 SF for 8 years now. The testers themselves, on occasion, have tried to 'adjust' the headlamp to the equipment but resign themselves with an accepting shrug and pass it. I think the original headlamp/bulb are just so "piss poor" (technical term). Or I have been fortunate with testers for these years.

I just make sure it's not pointing at the heavens nor at the front wheel.

Good luck,

Pete.

Last time I adjusted mine I just pushed it onto the street, loosened one side of it, sat on the bike and tapped it up or down till it was good.

Thanks for the replies.

Ok, I too will take it out onto the street and ensure it's pointing where it should be.

Cheers

Catflaps,

Look here - http://www.motobulbs.co.uk/2012/04/head ... nment-mot/ - my experience has been they are not so stringent with this part of the test but this article advises otherwise! And I believe also that my headlamp lens is of the "continental" type which deflects the wrong way - but I have not been pulled on it!!
