Hey people..

I would really appreciate some advice on a bike my friend has, we was riding it and the back foot rest pedal had a screw or nut missing out of it, allowing it to move. I was sitting on the back and as my friend broke to bring the bike to a stop I pushed on the pedal, which wedged itself up into the rectifier, causing a hell of a lot of smoke and then for the bike to cut out, never to start again as we speak.

We bought a new rectifier and loom, changed the fuses, etc.. Just wondering if anyone on here may have any idea's?

Well make sure you have both bolts in the footest first.
Right; does the bike spin over fast enough on the starter; you may have buckled plates in the battery but the main fuse should have blown and prevented that.
Did you replace the whole loom ? I imagine just the multiplug would have melted.
Is the rectifier known to be good and the correct fitment.?
Come back with some answers ,so diagnosis may proceed.

The battery's fucked ... Make sure the earth is attached too

Have you got a spark at the plugs first? We'll assume it's not been stood about too long so things like carbs etc aren't blocked up.
If you have no spark I would look at swapping the cdi unit for a known good one, possibly the coils too, both could have been fried by any stray ac current from the generator if the wrong wires got shorted together.
But check if you've got a good spark on all 4 plugs first.

Hmm its not a 3tj or 3en they have the reg rec in the middle of the frame.

Would start by looking for a decent spark - bike electrics are very logical if approached in a logical way - wiring diagram and multimeter. CDIs are a bastard to check but before putting another one on I would do my utmost to ensure everything else was OK to minimise the potential of frying a second CDI.
