Nc30 not attempting to start

Hey everyone, still.new on here and new to bikes really, got my winter project nc30 last week and have started to do a bit of work on her.
The bike was stolen recovered and the had basically only smashed 1 panel and bust the ignition barrel.
I have fitted a new (fully charged) battery today and an ignition barrel, and when I turn the key I get all electrics working as expected.
However when I press the start button nothing happens.
No click or attempt of any sort to start.
I have made sure the cut off isnt in, tried it in gear and out of gear with the clutch in and out and with the side stand up and down but it makes no difference at all.
Waiting for a multi meter and haynes manual to arrive but is there anything I could check in the meantime? Or anything obvious I am missing.
Cheers
Jimmy

all the fuses ok ? apart from the ones under the pillion seat, there is a master fuse too under the seat unit on the right hand side.
try rocking it in gear slightly too before trying again. check its not seized.
there is no clutch switch on the NC30 or side stand switch.

sorry paul but i think the VFR400R does have a clutch switch, but i dont think thats the problem here, i'd check the kill switch connections at the plug on the right hand side to see if thats been damaged

Going to spend most of the day on it on Saturday so will check all fuses etc, might try a bump start too.
Am I right in thinking that the fuel tap only let's fuel out under suction?

Yes, the vacuum pipe should connect not to the vent nipple (middle section) but the rear section of the assembly.
tied up this weekend james or would offer to help
when was this bike last run, and do you know for sure its a runner - cheap NC30's can be cheap for a reason as i mentioned.

It was stood for 12 months, got old receipts that make the mileage (15k) and the fact that it was looked after seem genuine
I wont know how good or bad it is until I get it started or at least attempting to start. Pretty sure its an electrical issue at the moment though not a mechanical one. But time will tell.
Will see how I get on over the weekend and update on here if i have any joy

Does the neutral light come on in neutral, if not, check the connection at the rear of the clutch cover.

Yeah neutral light Comes on and it goes in and out of gear too
Think there could be an immobiliser somewhere on the bike possibly as there is a fob with the original keys
Just need to try and find it

If theres an immobiliser it should be easy enough to find, wiriing loom is only small.

Check the wires to the coil packs and the kill switch wire for any t-offs.
