Is the NC35 airbox the same as the NC30? Can I fit one onto the other?

The airbox upper is the same, lower is different but both will fit each model.

If you fit an rvf lower onto a vfr you may run into some fuelling issues, I wouldn't recommend it.

thanks, I have a RVF, just thinking of getting a spare box to mod hrc style maybe take a feed under headlight

There is also a small difference in the offset of the carbs so if you fit an NC30 lower airbox to an NC35 the whole filter assembly sits slightly off centre in the frame.

So if you have rvf carbs to put on a vfr - whats the best option airbox or would you just use either?

Ive been reading on here that such a mod isnt always best, not sure if I will go ahead with it but if I did make an airbox like that and get air/fuel ratio correct Im sure there would be a decent bit of power to be had?
Currently I have just an ART can and FI international jet kit, the foam is removed from airbox intake and one layer of the gauze from the underside of the air filter

For a roadbike? Not a good idea at all.

I wouldn't bother, it will adversely affect the rideability but might net you 1 extra horsepower at the top of the rev range for all this hassle. If it's a track bike it might be worth it.

In my opinion the standard paper air filter performs best for roadbikes, anything else can upset midrange performance to various extents.

yeah its just a road bike, not my main bike these days but still very fond of it. If its going to be 1bhp I wouldn't bother like you say. I believe the ignition retrards on these bikes about 5500rpm for Japanese regulations which I think upsets the midrange you hear about so often which leads me to consider a different ignition map, my FI jet kit really helped this way back in about 2001 when I fitted it but didn't mask it completely. I also feel power hasn't tailed off when it hits the rev limiter especially in the lower gears. Im not sure how much mixture the standard heads can handle before they become the limiting factor
