So I heard about the famous O ring problem with these bikes and a decent fella on bikechatforums.com is sending me quite a few Viton petrol resistant ones.

Trouble is, the only thing I know how to do is change the speedo cable (had to do that not so long ago) and repair the headlights (same reason as before).

The above being all the experience I have, how easy are they going to be to replace?

Taken carefully this is a relatively straightforward task. The major issue as with pretty much any job on this bike is the lack of access so be prepared to swear a lot. You will need to remove the fuel tank, battery and move the airbox back to get access to the carbs and the fairing to allow you to slide them out. Once you have all this clear disconect the choke and throttle cable then undo the clips securing the carbs to the rubber inlet boots. Carefully ease the carbs back and off the boots and there will be just enough room to slide the carbs out through the side of the frame.
You will now need to take the float bowls off, unfortunately the screws used were made of chese so I used to carefully tap them out with an impact driver. Next remove the floats and you will have access to the bottom of the main jets, unscrew them and replace the O-ring seals. When you reasemble the carbs you must use a new float bowl gaskets as they are a crush type and cannot be re used. If you get stuck finding some I always got mine from http://www.ridersmotorcycles.co.uk.

Thanks for your helps guys, will book a day off work when I get all that I need and see if my dad can help as well (not that he know's much more, but I'll have a second opinion) :D lol

I have the new rings but am waiting for the new float bowl gasket.

Currently starting the bike twice a day with a can of Start Rapid and then bumping it, should I stop and just get the train to work for now? I'm worried that I'll do some damage

If you have to bump it there's something wrong. Get the train till it's fixed...
