Hi guys I'm back I've had a full service plugs cleaned KnN filter replaced fuel filter the works i had the carbs stripped, cleaned and balance by an experienced mechanic and replaced the exhaust system with a second hand one thanks to Kayla as the previous one had holes in it.
Right heres the problem -
I have the bike in neutral give it a good twist of the throttle and vroom sounds perfect but if i rev it to any rev range and hold it there for a few seconds it starts sounding as though its being strangled.
When I'm riding and I'm at a stand still and I'm about to take off i give some revs slip the clutch and i can here that horrible spluttery chokey sound and I've i don't give it stupid wheeley race start revs it splutters at around 2000 revs wont get any power down and the only way to resolve it is to pull the clutch let it die and start again.
Sorry for the rant but its ruining my opinion of a great little bike lol
PLEASE HELP

If it's overheating could the head gasket be suspect? I'm not trying to scare you, just maybe point in the right direction.

What is the bike actually doing ?
Is it hard to start
Does it lack power low down or high up.
If it clears where in the rev range does it happen

What are the pilot screws set at? Did your mechanic clean the carbs with an ultrasonic cleaner or just carb cleaner? It could also be the low speed idle drillings in the carb body's that are blocked, only an ultrasonic cleaner will sort that out.
It could be old perished carb O rings as they are 20 odd years old.
Don't give up it can be sorted out.

Haha thanks guys the quote above is what its doing im staying strong with this bike lol
The problem isnt at any certain rev range but when i let off the throttle and then put the throttle back on it splutters and if i hold it the revs steady it sounds really rough
i don't think its overheating as such kayla it get hot but the fan kicks in and the temp drops when is get past the spluttering it has no problem playing out with aprillia rsv's like this morning down otterspool prom

Sounds as if one or more cylinders are flooding / being choked
Is there any difference if the choke is on or off?
Take out the new air filter and give it a quick blast to see if there is any difference.

I think it could be something like the emusion tubes / needles are worn.
Find another set of carbs and try them that will give an indication if the problem is fueling
