Hi im starting to put my bike back together and Im after some advice on my rear disc its virtually new apart from a fair bit of surface rust as the bike was stood for a while.
Is there anything I can use to remove the rust or would I be best of buying a new one
Thanks

Pic? If the rust isn't too deep then just mount it and let the pads clean it up.

that is pretty rusty... but reckon that will clean up. Depends if you can get some pads after as I expect it might eat yours!

Yes I still have the old pads and loads left on them but I shall be replacing them anyway.

Give them a rub down with some emery cloth/wire wool!

put them in a tray ( or such like) pour over some full fat coke, leave to sit for a couple of hours, or overnight, then give a rub over with wire wool or scotchbrite.
Will bring them up nicely but put you off coke for life

Just take it for a ride around the block, use the brakes quite a bit and it will clean up nice, I drag the brakes some at slow speeds but not for too long as you dont want to overheat and glaze the pads.
