Indeed Jo, I seem to have capitulated to 3 cylinders or less over the past 10 years. + 100 - 120 BHP is more than enough for me in any situation.

TRX850 - Fantastic underated motorcyle - would buy another
Ducati 916 - Still in use as you know
Triumph Speed Triple 1050 - Another cracking machine - came away from rockingham looking a little secondhand
Ducati hypermotard - Great bike, but shit for keeping up with your mates
Gixxer thou K6 - Lasted 3 months - too many cylinders, what was I thinking, too fast for normal roads.
Aprilia RSV R - Bit of a truck, needs a suspension set up and a couple of track days to bed me in.

Yep another Italian, lets hope it is a layed back male and not a high maintenance lady bike.

If I don't get on with it then the next bike on the list is an RC8-R, but I have a feeling that me and Mille will be just fine

they're pretty reliable, watch the solenoid/battery and if it turns over too slow can F*** the sprag clutch. other than that they're reliable, rotax motor is dry sumped and oil level checking takes some time to adjust too. I've read that it's rare to need much, if any, adjustment at the first 9k interval. Chain cam drive is nice and kicks the Duke 999 belts at £140 a pair every two years into touch.

It's Italian, so even the male bikes are high maintanence ladies lol

Seriously though they are lovely looking bikes and sound spot on.
